Magazine Work

Besides having written articles for the ACC ‘Zine (which you can find here), I also have written two articles for LEWK Magazine, the first student led fashion magazine at Texas State. You can find the issue here: https://issuu.com/lewkmagazine/docs/magazine_1_3_.

For class work, I designed a basic magazine layout for my media design class. I got the highest grade in my class for it too! Below are screenshots of the pages. The main body text is just dummy text from cupcakeipsum.com. The magazine contains 15 pages or 7 spreads plus the cover.

The concept for my magazine was a national park theme. The viewer would be enticed to pick up and read the magazine because each issue would have a little guessing game about where the image hidden in the question is from. The answer is on the inside on page 1. The overall design is simple and open with plenty of white space to convey calm and tranquility while reading, a feeling that being in parks often brings up.

Spread 1: Page 1 contains the table of contents and the park on the cover information and pictures. Page 2 contains two column example article 1 and a header image.

Spread 2: Page 3 contains a two column example article 2 including images. Page 4 contains the other half of example article 2, an image, and a pull quote.

Spread 3: Page 5 contains a 1 page header images for example article 3. Page 6 contains two column example article 3 and an image.

Spread 4: Page 7 contains the other half of example article 3, an image, and a pull quote. Page 8 contains example listicle or article 4, and some graphics and typography.

Spread 5 : Page 9 contains example article 5 and several example images. Page 10 contains example article 6 and multiple images.

Spread 6: Pages 11 and 12 contain a full spread image.

Spread 7: Pages 13 and 14 contain example article or listicle 7 with header images, typography headers, and a pull quote.
